Why I Garden

Here it is, the middle of June already- in fact as they say in Scandinavia, Midsommar - and I am still planting my garden, frantically.
This happens every year. I have grand dreams in the depths of winter and not unlike a child in a candy store, plan gardens bigger than the hours in my day can manage. Why? Simply, I love to garden.
I love the plants and flowers. I love to spend time outdoors. I love the exercise the garden provides for my mind and body. I love the vegetables, herbs and flowers that the garden provides for the family table and our home. I love watching the birds and the pollinators enjoy the food and shelter that the garden provides for them. There are many reasons to garden.

Below is one of my favorite quotes by Amy Stewart, garden writer and fellow blogger. She simply states one of my biggest reasons why I garden. It makes me laugh every time I read it. It's so true! I'll be back shortly with a post about succulent gardens- that is, as soon as all the plants are planted! Enjoy!
"There is another important reason to garden. I garden to find a place to put all the plants I've bought. At the garden center, every plant represents a possibility. A tomato that tastes of tangerines? A purple coleus with chartreuse fringe?
I'll take three!"
