Today I want to share a floral installation that caught my eye. This event happened last fall but I found the images so amazing and of a simple beauty that I wanted to share even though the floral installation is long since dismantled and becoming beautiful compost.
During Paris Fashion Week in October 2015, fashion power house Dior created a one of a kind 59 foot tall mountain covered in Delphiniums to host their runway show.
Situated in the Cour Carree courtyard of the Louvre, while it has a simple beauty, it was no small feat.
15 semi truckloads of scaffolding were required to build the structure on which a team of nearly 100 took several days (around the clock) to place 400,000 individual cut stems of delphinium to create this piece. Yes, cut stems. This is a floral arrangement, not a planted garden!
Inside as a backdrop to the runway, a smaller scale delphinium covered mountain.
Simply beautiful- simply wow!
